Our Story
Born from creativity, rooted in science, and driven by impact.
Scientifically Speaking was founded to reimagine how science connects with people — through creativity, culture, and community. Inspired by street art and public engagement, our journey began with a mission to make science visible, inclusive, and globally impactful.
A Vision Sparked by Art, STEM and Inclusion

Scientifically Speaking was founded by Dr. Bahijja Raimi-Abraham, a pharmacist, academic, and science communicator who believes that science should be seen, heard, and experienced by everyone — not just those in labs or lecture halls.
Before launching Scientifically Speaking, Dr. Bahijja founded her first science engagement startup, STEAM:ED Collective, which used street art and public installations to bring STEM research into everyday public spaces. These projects reimagined how science could be shared — not through slides or textbooks, but through murals, city walls, and storytelling in motion.
From Local Impact to Global Vision
What started as a creative science experiment in the streets of London grew into a bold idea for global impact. In 2020, Dr. Bahijja launched Scientifically Speaking as a new kind of organisation — a STEAM communication agency operating at the intersection of science, education, and culture.
With offices in London, UK and Lagos, Nigeria, the organisation has since grown into a trusted platform for:
-
CPD-accredited training and life sciences education
-
Accessible science media, including the Monday Science podcast
-
Immersive experiences, like Cocktails and Chess
-
Creative engagement projects, including murals and data walls
-
International collaborations, including trilateral work with partners in the UK, Nigeria, and Brazil (e.g. through the GrowHER Impact Project)

Why does Scientifically Speaking Exist?
We created Scientifically Speaking because we believe science isn’t finished when the research ends — it’s complete when it connects. Our mission is to bridge science, creativity, and community, and to help institutions, researchers, and educators reach real people in powerful, meaningful ways.
“I started this because I wanted people to feel that science wasn’t just for scientists — it’s for all of us.”
— Dr. Bahijja Raimi-Abraham, Founder
